Ifnan’s Story
Ifnan, three-years-old, is the fourth child of his parents who work as farmers in Oromia. He arrived at our April programme at Yoyya hospital in April this year in search of treatment for his cleft condition.
“Cleft conditions have not appeared in our family before so when Ifnan was born it was very scary. Before Ifnan could walk I would hide him away in our house so that nobody would ask me questions about his condition. But now he is older, and he can walk, he runs around outside and people see his condition and ask me these questions.”
When Ifnan was born at the health centre they told his mother that he had this cleft condition which was very worrying for her. Ifnan’s parents did not have the money to treat their son and therefore the work of Project Harar was invaluable to them. Ifnan’s mother told us that she wanted to spread the message about Project Harar in order to help everybody who needs this treatment to get the help they need.
“I am so grateful for this service from Project Harar. I am free from all these comments from my community and I hope that Project Harar continue their hard work in helping the poorest families to come forward and seek this life-changing treatment.” Ifnan’s mother told us.
