Our Complex Surgical Programmes

Since Project Harar was founded in 2001, we have carried out multiple complex surgical programmes, and our most recent one was at the end of 2025. In October, 2025 we held a programme focusing on providing surgery to survivors of Noma, a neglected tropical disease. A team of 15 UK Volunteer Medics took part in this mission and in total 11 survivors of Noma and other complex facial disfigurements received life-changing surgery. This programme was carried out in partnership with Hilfsaktion Noma.e.V. and the surgeries took place in partnership with Nordic Medical Centre and their team.
