Besufikad’s Story
Besufikad is a six-month-old who recently received cleft lip surgery at one of our programmes at Gamby General Hospital. Besufikad is the first child in his family to have this condition and arrived at the programme with his mother after travelling hundreds of kilometres.
When Besufikad was born, his mother was incredibly worried about his condition. She registered Besufikad at the local health centre and waited patiently for a solution to his condition. His mother told us;
‘I would pray to the lord that he would help my son and thanks to Project Harar, my prayers were answered and my son was able to receive treatment for his cleft lip.’
His mother was overjoyed and grateful with the service expressing her happiness regarding this free medical service, as their financial situation has been a concern. She told us;
“I was very worried because I didn’t have adequate money to treat my child, but then people told me about Project Harar organisation, which treats children with cleft conditions for free. This service is so important because it offers them a chance to live free from the physical and emotional challenges associated with the condition, empowering them to thrive and reach their full potential. Without Project Harar’s support, many children born with clefts would be unable to access the life-changing treatment. So, Project Harar should continue supporting children born with cleft conditions, and I will work to transmit information to all those hidden away in rural areas.”
