Our cleft work is currently implemented in the Oromia, SNNPR (Southern Nationalities) and Afar regions of Ethiopia and partner with other NGOs in Tigray and Amhara.

Once a year, we transport patients with complex facial disfigurements to Yekatit-12 Hospital in Addis Ababa where a combined team of surgeons from the UK, France and Ethiopia conduct some of the most urgent and necessary complex surgical operations.

We have treated more than 6,500 individuals with facial disfigurements since 2001 and in 2017 we treated 1,100 children and young adults with cleft lip and palate. We have recently started a cleft and nutrition project with under 5 children and their mothers, in the Afar region of Ethiopia, funded by Comic Relief. Click here to find out more.

We also aim to support at least 50 people with complex facial disfigurements each year. A team of volunteer surgeons, nurses, anaesthetists and doctors travels to Ethiopia to participate in the incredible effort to bring hope to people who would otherwise live isolated lives with the most severe facial disfigurements.

We are seeking partnerships with other like-minded charities and organisations to help us to achieve our aims. If you would like to support us, please e-mail: [email protected]
