Our work is currently implemented in the Oromia, SNNPR and Somali Regions of Ethiopia. We reach many children with serious facial disfigurements, including children with cleft lip and palate. Once a year, we get people with complex facial disfigurements to Yekatit12 Hospital in Addis Ababa where a combined team of surgeons from the UK, France and Ethiopia conduct some of the most urgent and necessary surgical operations. We call this the ‘Complex Surgical Mission’ and the beneficiaries of this come from all over Ethiopia.
In 2016 we treated over 1,000 children and adults with cleft lip and palate. We are implementing a project funded by DFID in the Somali region. This will build the capacity of health workers to provide better support to vulnerable children to accessing health services and integrating into community life.
We also aim to support at least 50 people with complex facial disfigurements per year. This means bringing volunteer surgeons, nurses, anaesthetists and doctors to Ethiopia once a year on our Complex Surgical Mission to participate in the incredible effort to bring hope to people who would otherwise not access urgent medical intervention.
We are seeking partnerships with other like-minded charities and organisations to help us to achieve our aims. If you would like to support us, please e-mail: email@example.com
