New Noma Video - 'The Face of Poverty'

"Your face is your passport to society", says the Ethiopian surgeon as he makes plans with UK volunteer doctors to operate on the survivors of noma, a devastating facial infection that kills 90 percent of its victims.
You can watch him, our Operations Director Sebsibe, and our patients in our latest video, produced thanks to the brilliant work of Morag Livingstone. Left scarred and disabled, unable to eat or speak normally and often rejected by their communities because of their appearance, noma patients must undergo many weeks of medical care by the dedicated staff in order to get their lives back.
The film follows their astonishing journey from remote regions of Eastern Ethiopia to the capital city, Addis Ababa, and talks to some of the people who make it happen.
